Maryland offers a Driver Improvement Program (DIP) that allows eligible drivers to have 3 points removed from their record. Under MD Trans. §16-212, the DIP can be completed once every three years.
Maryland uses a point system where accumulating 8-11 points triggers a license suspension and 12+ points results in revocation. The MVA sends advisory letters at lower point levels.
For court-ordered traffic safety education, Maryland judges have discretion to order completion as part of Probation Before Judgment (PBJ) or sentencing.
